"¡Ask a Mexican!", a nationally syndicated column written by Gustavo Arellano began as a one time spoof and quickly became one of The OC Weekly's most popular columns. Readers submit serious, curious and sometimes hateful questions about topics like illegal immigration, Mexican food and customs and "The Mexican" is more than happy to enlighten and in some instances set those "Gabachos" straight. It's no surprise from this wildly popular column comes the just as hilarious book by the same title.
Gustavo Arellano makes his return to our branch, Oct. 16th, from 6-7:30pm. He'll be talking about the funniest, most ridiculous and most racist questions he's answered. Join us and be prepared to laugh. Gustavo will bring plenty of copies w/ him that he'll be selling/signing for $15 at the end of the program.
Have questions? You better "¡Ask a Mexican!"
Can't join us in person? Watch along live online at www.livestream.com/cypressparklibrary
For those of you who missed it, Gustavo was here in June talking about his latest book, "Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America". That was a very fun program. He had patrons eating out of the palm of his hand for the whole hour he lectured. (not literally) Read about that program here and be sure to watch the livestream recording of it here.
