Teen Poetry Workshop with Luis J. Rodriguez

Cypress Park Library is proud to present a free, one-day poetry workshop with acclaimed poet & writer Luis J. Rodriguez.

This workshop is part of a series of workshops presented throughout the Los Angeles Public Library system in conjunction with Urban Word LA as part of the Los Angeles Youth Poet
Laureate contest.

All teen poets are encouraged to enter the Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate contest. The winner will be named  LA Youth Poet Laureate and win a book deal to publish their first book of poems. Luis J. Rodriguez is the Poet Laureate of Los Angeles selected in 2014 by Mayor Eric Garcetti. He is founding editor of Tia Chucha Press, now in its 25th year, and co-founder of Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural & Bookstore. He has fifteen books in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and children's literature, including the bestselling memoir, Always Running, La Vida Loca: Gang Days in L.A. and his short story collection The Republic of East L.A.
